iPad Tip: How to Take a Screenshot

Need to take a screenshot on the IPad? It’s very easy: hold the Power button on the top corner and the Home button on the front bezel concurrently, you’ll know the screenshot was taken because the screen flashes white briefly. This captures the entire screen.

After you have taken a screen shot they are placed in the Photos library but if you have iCloud enabled they will also be sent to Photo Stream and be synced with other Apple devices using the same iCloud ID.

(Note: the button to press is the one in the top right corner not the home button)

Restarting your device

  1. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider.

IPAD Tip: Closing Multiple Apps at Once From The Multitasking Bar

Have you tried to figure out how to close a app on your IPAD or even close out seveal apps at once.  Here is a little tip on how you can close out multipial apps at once with the new feature in ios5 called multi touch.

Turns out, you can use multitouch to force quit multiple apps at once from the multitasking tray.

With the iOS device unlocked, double click on the Home button, then touch and hold the app icon until app icons in the multitasking bar begin to jiggle. You can tap on the  button on multiple app icons to force quit the apps in one go rather than doing it one app at a time.

Although it's difficult to hit all four fingers at the right spot simultaneously, even closing two apps at once is a lot quicker than quitting one app at a time. The maximum we could manage is quitting three apps at a time, using two thumbs and a finger.

Subaru BRZ Info

First going to start off with the cars spec list:

Engine: 2.0L Boxer-Four
Power: 200 HP / 150 LB-FT
Transmission: 6-Speed Manual
Drivetrain: Rear-Wheel Drive
Curb Weight: 2,676 LBS
Seating: 2+2
Cargo: 6.9 CU-FT
MPG: 30 HWY (est.)

The car is has some nice body lines but my wife thinks its a mix of a nissan, toyota, mazda, and ford all put into one car.  Subaru based this car off of the Porsche Cayman, (Really?).  This is the first rear wheel drive car that subaru plans to come out with, so no longer will they be know for all wheel drive.

This new subaru is said that the target weight of the car is only 2700 pounds and according to the numbers that a 100 lbs less than a Civic SI and 600 lbs less than a new Mustang.  Even the Hyundai Genesis doesn't compete with this car due to the BRZ having a extra 10 hp and 73ft lbs torque and not to mention its 600 lbs lighter.

Subaru has created a all new design for the engine calling it the FA, basically a perfectly square stroke of 86×86 and they added  the variable-valve control system (Subaru Calls it AVCS, for active valve control system).  The car still requires premium gas which i don't think is a good idea with the cost of gas prices going up there now a days.

The BRZ overall height is 50.6 inches with a ground clearance of 4.9 inches, it is 157 inches and its wheelbase is 101.2 inches.  The width of the BRZ is 69.9 inches with a track of 59.8 inches in front and 60.6 inches in the rear.  The balance is estimated to be 53 % in front and 47 % in the rear.  Subaru doesn't have the official numbers on gas mileage yet but it predicts 30mpg on the hwy.

First thing to do if you purchase one of these cars would be to dump the skinny 215/45/R17 tires but no details on what will fit the car yet to get a little wider track.  Aside from some appearance options you can purchase there aren't much in the performance department strait from the dealer.

I can talk more and more about this car but as more details come out everyday it seems now please check back for more info.  Now lets see some pictures of the car curisody of autoblog

IPAD Tip: Protect your New IPAD 2 with a Passcode

Since alot of people have gotten ipads/iphones for Christmas I felt that I should voice some suggestions on securing your ipad and protecting it from being stolen or broken.

The first thing to do with your ipad would be to put on a pass code lock, this may seem to be a nuiceance but it will prevent someone from stealing your data if it is stolen.  To do this follow the following steps:

Follow these simple steps to set-up Passcode Lock:

  1. Go into Settings
  2. Open General
  3. Scroll down and tap on Passcode Lock
    1. The default passcode in iOS is four digits — if you would like to set an alphanumeric passcode, slide the Simple Passcode toggle to Off
  4. Now, select Turn Passcode On
  5. Enter a four-digit passcode, or an alphanumeric passcode of any length
  6. Re-type your passcode to confirm
  7. Set Require Passcode to the desired time — this will be the amount of idle time before your iPad 2 will require you to enter the passcode

Windows Defender Offline Beta

Sometimes, malicious and other potentially unwanted software, including rootkits, try to install themselves on your PC. This can happen when you connect to the Internet or install some programs from a CD, DVD, or other media. Once on your PC, this software might run immediately, or it might run at unexpected times.Windows Defender Offline Beta can help remove such hard to find malicious and potentially unwanted programs using definitions that recognize threats. Definitions are files that provide an encyclopedia of potential software threats. Because new threats appear daily, it’s important to always have the most up-to-date definitions installed in Windows Defender Offline Beta. Armed with definition files, Windows Defender Offline Beta can detect malicious and potentially unwanted software, and then notify you of the risks.

To use Windows Defender Offline Beta, you need to follow four basic steps:

  1. Download Windows Defender Offline Beta and create a CD, DVD, or USB flash drive.
  2. Restart your PC using the Windows Defender Offline Beta media.
  3. Scan your PC for malicious and other potentially unwanted software.
  4. Remove any malware that is found from your PC.

Windows Defender Offline Beta will walk you through the details of these four steps when you’re using the tool. If you’ve been prompted in Microsoft Security Essentials or Windows Defender to download and run Windows Defender Offline Beta, it’s important that you do so, to make sure that your data and your PC isn’t compromised.

To get started, find a blank CD, DVD, or USB flash drive with at least 250 MB of free space and then download and run the tool—the tool will help you create the removable media.

Keep your computer up to date!

So do you think that only updates from microsoft is enough to secure your computer? Well think again, with all the security fixes in so many programs now it is necessary to keep all your software up to date!  Today I’m going to tell you about a program called Secunia PSI which is a total security scanning software application that is designed to check all the software on your computer to make sure you have the latest and greatest.  I think some of the best key points to the software is that it keeps you up to date, you can set it up to notify or install updates in the background.  You can set the whole program to run in the background if need be (preferred method if your working on family computers).

I installed this software on a few computers around the house and found that my java was out of date and adobe reader, Secunia PSI went out and downloaded the updates and installed them for me!!!!  Now I have mine set to notify before installing but here is a screen shot the software and download links are below: (Oh did i mention that the software is free!!!
